Vindictive

I know it's just fiction, but I'm *glad* about the character on this week's episode of CSI: NY that was murdered after swallowing live bettas. Bastard.

And I'd also like to add at this point that any asshole frat pledge who dies during hazing after swallowing goldfish *also* has nothing but scorn from me. I know it (the dying) doesn't happen as often as tv dramas would like us to believe, but a girl can dream, right? Ditto to the matadors and picadors. And I wish someone would croak on Fear Factor after eating live insects.

Sorry, but eating something alive is just cruel, and killing for sport and entertainment is as well. I'm not stainless, considering that I love meat, but I draw my lines where I choose.

I'm with you babe! We are so arrogant when we assume we can do whatever we want to animals. Then some people have the guts to try and say we're a superior race?! Not hardly.

i am SO with you. i think of the scene in Return of the Jedi, with the Sarlacc... *shudder* i didn't even like that scene in Fish Called Wanda. horrific.

i do have to say, eating meat specifically for food is far different than swallowing live things for personal entertainment. i mean, cats are cruel to mice, but their instincts developed as part of how they hunt for food. we have never had an instinct developed for eating live things - we developed quite the opposite instinct!

L - I get *so* mad at the people who argue that it's ok to test on animals because they're "inferior" to humans, and that this is evidenced by the fact that they don't know right from wrong. We DO know, and *choose* to do wrong, so how does that make US superior?

R - thanks for what you said - you articulated something I've always felt, but couldn't put into words, and I really appreciate it.
